Supporting recovery and community connection - Sewing machines delivered to Derhachi community centre

Thanks to the support from LHI, 10 sewing machines and a large batch of fabric were successfully delivered to the Women’s Club in Derhachi, Ukraine.

This is not just equipment — it’s an essential part of helping the community recover and rebuild. The sewing machines are now being actively used for regular sewing classes, skill-building workshops, and community activities. Here, local women come together not only to sew but to learn, support one another, and regain a sense of normalcy and purpose.

The club has quickly become a safe and vibrant community space. It’s a place where women strengthen connections, share experiences, and learn new skills. Teenagers join in with their ideas, children find warmth and care here, and social events bring together people of different generations.

The sewing program is part of a broader effort to support psychosocial wellbeing, economic resilience, and community recovery for people affected by the war. The delivered sewing machines are already making a visible impact — helping women not only create practical items but also restore their confidence, independence, and sense of stability.

This delivery directly contributes to strengthening this space of safety, learning, and mutual support in a community that continues to face the challenges of displacement and recovery.
